Anna Birna Almarsdóttir

Biography
Professor Almarsdóttir received her Ph.D. in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA (UNC) in 1994. She is trained as a pharmacist in Iceland and holds an M.S. in Pharmacy Administration from UNC. She has previously held professorships at the University of Southern Denmark and the University of Iceland. She is currently a Professor of Social and Clinical Pharmacy in the Research Group for Social and Clinical Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen (https://pharmacy.ku.dk/research/social-clinical-pharmacy/). The group is also designated a WHO Collaborating Center for Research and Training in the Patient Perspective on Medicines Use (https://whocc-meduse.ku.dk/). Her research interests include pharmaceutical policy analysis, developing new clinical pharmacy services, and patient involvement in drug therapy decision-making. Her methods interests are mainly questionnaire construction, psychometric testing, and triangulation of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Prof. Almarsdóttir teaches social pharmacy and clinical pharmacy and supervises PhD students and Master’s projects. She is especially interested in novel modes of teaching students and practitioners.
